Armour, Cox, Damron, Franco, Schultz and Sim Accept Sponsor Exemptions To Play In EDS Byron Nelson Championship

Tommy Armour III, Kris Cox, Robert Damron, Carlos Franco, Jason Schultz and Michael Sim have accepted sponsor exemptions to play in the 2007 EDS Byron Nelson Championship.

Tommy Armour III will be making his 19th Championship appearance. His best Nelson finish was T10 in 2000. He has captured two PGA TOUR wins: the 1990 Phoenix Open and the 2003 Valero Texas Open. He finished fourth at the Shell Houston Open recently.

Kris Cox turned pro in 1996 and won the 2005 Permian Basin Charity Golf Classic on the Nationwide Tour in 2005. His best PGA TOUR finish was T3 at the 2006 FedEx St. Jude Classic. This will be his third Championship appearance.

Robert Damron has played at the Nelson 10 times and won in 2001. Last year, he entered 31 PGA TOUR events, finished in the money at 13 of these events and had one top 10 finish.

Carlos Franco, who turned pro in 1986, has four PGA TOUR wins, most recently at the 2004 U.S. Bank Championship of Milwaukee. In 2006, his best TOUR finish was T7 at the Ford Championship at Doral. This will be his seventh Nelson appearance. His best Championship finish was T14 in 2004.

Jason Schultz won the 2005 Chattanooga Classic on the Nationwide Tour. His best round on the TOUR this year was 67 in the first round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. This will be his second Nelson appearance; he also received a sponsor exemption in 2006 from the Championship.

Michael Sim is also making his second Nelson appearance after receiving a sponsor exemption to play in 2006. He made his PGA TOUR debut in 2005 at what is now the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard. Sim has also won one Nationwide Tour event: the 2006 PalmettoPride Classic.
